Notion is a tool I use to organize my schedule, classes, and assignments. It is one of the most useful tools I have found and is quite helpful... if you know how to use it. I am a planner at heart, so I always find new tools and tricks to keep myself organized.
Here is a video from Notion on what the platform is:
Notion is a great way to plan and organize when it comes to school, personal life, or any clubs and activities. I use Notion in tandem with my bullet journal because it allows me to access my planner wherever I am. Notion can be downloaded to your computer, phone, or tablet or can be accessed by logging in on any web browser. This makes Notion extremely accessible for users to view and edit.
When getting started it is best to use a template. I have created two templates for you all to access and use when getting started! Once you find a template you like simply select "Duplicate" in the top right-hand corner to use it.
After opening a template you are able to change any text or photos to make it your own. To change an image click the three dots in the top right corner of the image and select "replace". You can also customize your Notion by adding quote blocks, callouts, and widgets. To add a widget simply copy and paste the link into your notion and select embed. Another great way to personalize your notion pages is by adding/changing your page icons and headers. You can add your own or browse Notion's catalog of content to really personalize your pages. I recently added gifs with transparent backgrounds as my notion icons to add some movement to my pages! Check out the "references" page on any of my templates for more Notion design tips and tricks.
My Templates:
My favorite page that is linked on my templates is the "School" page. This is where you can create a master syllabus as well as a course catalog. To add to the course catalog simply add a course to the "Courses" database. In each course, you can list all of the assignments for the year adding due dates, points, links or tags to each assignment. Once you have all your courses and assignments added scroll to the bottom of the school page to see a master list of all your assignments! This has been extremely helpful for me to see everything from all my classes in one place. Once an assignment is complete simply check the completed box to hide it from view.
Notion is something that takes practice to learn. I was able to truly understand Notion after a few months of using it. Finding a tool that works for you is super important when it comes to college organization. I decided to start a Notion after watching Julia K Crist make her own and fell in love with all the different tools and abilities it had to offer. I started my notion first from a template linked in the description of her video and eventually learned to customize it myself. Now my notion is something that has truly changed my organization for the better. Ensuring you have your assignments in order is important for college students. Unlike in high school, professors won't always check in on you to remind you of things that are due on the syllabus. It falls on you to manage your assignments and keep track of all classes and meetings. I use Notion to ensure I am always on time but if you find something that works for you I would love to give it a try. Please feel free to send any planning tools or suggestions to me via the email submission, comments, or by DMing me on instagram!
